Episode Synopsis: Episode 1
gripping two-part drama when serial killer fred west is detained in custody housewife janet leach is asked to act as his 'appropriate adult' - she will sit in on police interviews with west and ensure that his interests are safeguarded...
...immediately west makes a shocking confession of murder drawing janet into the investigation he begins to tell her about his other victims but she cannot pass the information on because of her obligation of confidentiality meanwhile west refuses to divulge the full truth about his crimes to the police and continues to deny that his wife rosemary was involved in them finally janet feels forced to give west an ultimatum she will leave the case unless he co-operates her stand leads to a breakthrough but he keeps obstructing the enquiry janet tries to help the police break the deadlock - but just as she comes to believe that west is on the brink of major new revelations the police inform her that she is no longer needed
