About Kaiser Chiefs

Kaiser Chiefs are an indie rock band from Leeds, Yorkshire formed in 1997. Their music is spiky-pop with traces of new wave, punk and Britpop.

The band are big fans of Leeds United FC and are named after the South African club that sold defender Lucas Radebe to the Elland Road club.

The group's debut album, 'Employment', released in 2005, was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize but lost out to Antony and the Johnsons 'I Am a Bird Now'. The album would later win an Ivor Novello award.

The Chiefs' "Oh My God", a top 10 hit in 2007, was covered by Mark Ronson and Lily Allen for Ronson's album Version.

Lead singer Ricky Wilson is known for his dapper fashion sense, cheeky wit and willingness to dive into the audience whilst performing the band's anthem, "I Predict A Riot".
