Lana Del Rey (real name Elizabeth Grant) is female singer from Lake Placid, New York state.

Her first foray into pop was under her real name: Lizzy Grant. A full album’s worth of material was recorded in 2009 with producer David Kahne. After an initial EP failed to strike a chord, the album was shelved. After striking up a friendship with the Spanish Harlem-based rapper Princess Superstar Lizzie movied to live in a trailer in New Jersey and created her new persona.

Lizzy returned in 2011 as Lana Del Rey, a name she said was created for her my managers and lawyers. Her fifties-infused track “Video Games’ racked up more than a million and a half views on YouTube before a record was event released. She described her look and attitude as “Lolita In The Hood” or “The Gangster Nancy Sinatra”. She has been accused by many music bloggers and writers as being a contrived, manufactured and unauthentic pop act.
