In diese Welt taucht der BBC-Reporter Louis Theroux ein. Er spricht mit dem Ehepaar Carl und Diane über ihre Abhängigkeit. Er fährt mit Polizisten zu Einsätzen und begleitet Lynn Pimentel, stellvertretende Leiterin eines Entzugsprogramms für Mütter, zu therapeutischen Sitzungen.
