Deathcab for Cutie are an alternative rock band from Bellingham, Washington.
The band consists of Ben Gibbard, Chris Walla, Nick Harmer and Jason McGerr.
The band's name was taken from the name of the song written by Neil Innes and Vivian Stanshall and performed by The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band in The Beatles' 1967 film, 'Magical Mystery Tour'.
Death Cab began as a solo project of Ben Gibbard while he was the guitar player for the band Pinwheel. He recorded early demos on his home studio and when the music began to elicit favourable reactions he recruited a band to play the songs.
