About Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys are an English indie rock band from Sheffield, Yorkshire.

The band currently consists of Alex Turner, Jamie Coo, Nick O'Malley and Matt Helders. Former members include Andy Nicholson and Glyn Jones.

The Monkeys rose to prominence with some incendiary performances in the North of England and after a fan create a myspace account for them. Their first record deal was with uber-indie lable Domino - previously the home to Coldplay. Their first single with Domino, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" was release barely two weeks after they were featured on the cover of the NME. It entered the UK singles chart at number one in October 2005 with their second single, "When the Sun Goes Down" repeating the trick.
