three years ago denise daniel and doug ibbs gave up everything in the uk to start a new life in a remote part of central france called the creuse having fallen in love with a massive dilapidated 19th century manor...

...which they chanced upon on the internet they planned to restore it to its former glory and run it as a b&b taking on a project of this enormous scale in the uk is daunting but to attempt it in a foreign country where you don't speak the language and you plan to do most of the work yourselves is madness but denise and doug slogged away day and night learning how to build as they went along despite tackling the plumbing the tiling the pointing and the plasterboarding doug and denise had barely completed more than a handful of rooms after 18 months of hard graft now they have finally finished and kevin mccloud returns to france to find out how denise and doug are settling in to their new life
