Mika - Australian Chart Performance

Mika (real name: Michael Holbrook Penniman, Jr.) is a British singer, songwriter and producer. He was born in Beirut, to a Lebanese mother and an American father.

In 2007 Mika topped the BBC News website's 'Sound of 2007' poll. His single "Grace Kelly" subsequently topped the UK single chart. His debut album "Life in Cartoon Motion" would also top the charts. His second album 'The Boy Who Knew Too Much' spawned the hit single 'We Are Golden'.

As a child Mika received opera singing lessons, and later attended the Royal College of Music. His vocal style has drawn comparisons with Freddie Mercury, The Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears and David Bowie.

Mika has written and produced for other pop acts, but always using a pseudoynm.
