Emeli Sandé - International Chart Performance

About Emeli Sandé

Emeli Sandé, is a recording artist and songwriter of Scottish-Nigerian descent. Sandé's firsttaste of success came when she featured on the hit single "Diamond Rings" by the rapper Chipmunk in 2009. She subsequently featured on Wiley's "Never Be Your Woman".

In 2009 Emeli recorded a session for BBC Radio 1Xtra after sending DJ Ras Kwame a CD she had recorded. After the session aired she performed at a show rganises by 1Xtra and met with producer Shahid Khan (aka Naughty Boy) who had previously worked with Ms Dynamite and Bashy. They teamed up and an early collaboration would become the basis for Chiupmunk's "Diamond Rings".

Emeli has written for a number of artists, including Cher Lloyd, Susan Boyle, Alesha Dixon & Cheryl Cole.

In the summer of 2012 Sande performed in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympics.
