About Boyzone

Boyzone are an Irish boy band comprising Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Ronan Keating, and Shane Lynch. A fifth fouding member, Stephen Gately, was a member of the band until his death in October. Boyzone are one of the most successful British boy bands ever having solid approximately 20 million records worldwide.

The band was formed in 1993 by Louis Walsh, who was known for managing Irish superstar Johnny Logan, he would later manage another Irish boy band, Westlife. Walsh was looking to put together an "Irish Take That".

Boyzone's breathrough hit was a cover version of the classic Osmonds' hit, "Love Me for a Reason", which reached number 2 in the British single charts. They would go onto have hits with a version of Cat Steven's "Father And Son" (which Ronan Keating had sung at his Boyzone auditiong) and the Bee-Gees' "Words" - their firth number one single in the UK.

The group went on hiatus in 2000. Ronan Keating would have a successful solo career, Stephen Gately starred in a handful of West End musicals whilst Keith Duffy played the part of Ciaran McCarthy in ITV soap opera, Coronation Street.
